Frequently asked questions

Is DeepNameSearch legal advice?

No. It is a name-screening tool. It gives a knowledge-based read on trademark risk and links you straight into the official registers, but it is not a formal clearance and not a substitute for a licensed trademark attorney. Use it to decide which names are worth taking to a lawyer.

How accurate is the trademark check?

It is a reasoned assessment from a language model with web search, focused on likelihood of confusion in the relevant Nice classes, plus deep links into USPTO, EUIPO, WIPO and UK IPO search. It is not a live register query. It is good at catching obvious collisions and crowded patterns; it can miss a pending application or a mark it has no knowledge of.

Do you store my searches?

No. There is no account and no database of searches. Results are held in an in-memory cache for about 24 hours so an identical repeat run is instant, and there is a per-IP rate limit. Nothing is written to disk and nothing is shared.

What is the difference between Quick check and Deep audit?

Quick check runs only the deterministic checks — domain availability per TLD and social-handle availability — in a few seconds. Deep audit adds live web research for existing companies and trademark exposure, confusable-name analysis, linguistics and phonetics, and returns the full scored report with a verdict.

Which domains and social platforms does it check?

Domains: .com, .ai, .net, .io, .co and .dev by default, via RDAP with a DNS cross-check. Social handles: GitHub, YouTube, TikTok, X, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. Some platforms block automated checks, so those are reported with a confidence level rather than a hard yes/no.

Why did it say a domain was available when a registrar says it is taken?

RDAP plus DNS can see registered domains and genuinely free ones, but not names a registry holds back — reserved, premium, or trademark-blocked strings have no registration record and no DNS, so they look identical to a free name. "Available" here means "not currently registered and not in DNS" — always confirm at a registrar before counting on one.

Is it really free?

Yes. Public, no login, one name per run. There is a per-IP rate limit to keep it usable for everyone.

Which AI model does it use?

The analysis layer runs on Claude or Gemini with server-side web search, behind a common interface. The deterministic checks (domains, handles, scoring) do not use a model at all.

Can I use it for a personal brand or a product name, not a company?

Yes, though the trademark and persona reasoning is tuned for company and B2B software names. Domain and handle checks and linguistic screening work for any name.

It gave my name a hard stop. Is the name dead?

A hard stop means this exact string has a fatal problem as-is — usually an active same-name company in your category, an offensive meaning in a major language, or no obtainable domain anywhere. A spelling change, a coined variant, or a different market can often resolve it. Re-run the variant.
